Where to stay?

Åre Village
Close to everything. Easy access to the arena, lift, restaurants and activities in the village.

Duved is located approximately 10 km west of Åre. The ski area is linked with the ski area of Tegefjäll and you can access from both directions with either lift or ski buss. Going to Åre is a piece of cake, just take the ski bus – which is free if you have a ski pass. It runs all day and limited hours at the evening. There’s a supermarket and a few restaurants in Duved.

Around 5 km west of Åre you’ll find Tegefjäll. The ski area is linked with the Duved with easy access with the lift or the ski bus. The ski bus, which is free if you have a ski pass, takes you in just 5-10 minutes to Åre village. A small supermarket and one restaurant is located just by the main chair lift in Tegefjäll.

Björnen is in the other direction compared to Duved and Tegefjäll. Roughly 5 km east of Åre lies this small village with many exclusive villas. To access Åre village you can either take the lift (9–16:30) or catch the ski bus. The kids are in focus; a bit more gentle slopes and fun kids areas to hang out. A small number of restaurants and a supermarket is close to the center of Björnen.

Tranquility and nature experience awaits you in Edsåsdalen, located 20 minutes by car from Åre. The ski area holds 5 lifts and 11 slopes and many km of cross country skiing. A restaurant and a supermarket is located in Edsåsdalen.

Trillevallen is 25 minutes by car from Åre. The ski area has 8 lifts and 21 slopes. Cross country skiing for all levels are easy accessible. A handful of restaurants with local specialities, Swedish cuisine and hamburgers are at your disposable.

35 minutes from Åre you will find Vålådalen with breathtaking nature just outside the door. The atmosphere is genuine and friendly and focus is on cross country skiing and touring. A small alpine ski area is available.

Transport to
and from Åre

It’s sustainable, easy and comfortable to take the train to Åre. You arrive at the center of the village with walking distance to everything; the race arena, slopes, restaurants and shopping. To be as time efficient as possible, why don’t you take the night train from for example Stockholm or Gothenburg? Wake up after a good night sleep, star with a breakfast buffe´in any of the nearby hotels or cafes and voila, there you have a great start of your holiday in Åre.

The closest airport is Åre/Östersund, located 86 km from Åre. For further information which destination available to travel from, visit Swedavia. There you can also find ways to travel from the airport to Åre; prebooked transfer, taxi or car rental.

Trondheim/Vaernes (Norway)
Trondheim Airport is located 135 km from Åre. It’s a two hours drive to get to Åre (please allow som extra time if it’s snowing or windy. Avinor has gathered all practical information regarding destinations, transfer, arrivals and departures.

You can travel by bus within the county. There’s a number of stops between Björnen (E14) and Duved, so feel free to jump on and off where it suits you. For time table, visit Länstrafiken Jämtland.

We favor other transports to Åre. But if you still need to take the car to Åre and have room for a few additional passengers, fill up the car. It’s cheaper and better for the environment – and you get company at the same time. There’s a Facebook group called ÅRE-bilkollektiv where you can find your travel companions.

Pay attention to the winter roads and allow some extra time to get to Åre. To calculate your best route, use GPS or the map in your smartphone.
